Curtain Call: Barak Ravitz

Overview

Curtain Call is the action that indicates the disappearance of the theatrical illusion, the final moment when the actors shed their characters and surrender themselves naked to the audience. The works in the exhibition cling to two poles - the ceiling of the gallery and its floor. The space is charged with the tension between the images of the lighting fixtures floating - almost disappearing - above, and blocks of the raw and heavy material below. The gaze moves between the two poles, and from this arrives a bowing gesture. The objects are all transient in nature. They can be rolled, folded, drained, packed. You can hold them in your hand and move them to another place when the screen goes down.
