Discovery Award 2024 Louis Roederer Foundation: Matan Mittwoch

Since their creation, the Rencontres d'Arles have defended photography and all its stakeholders: artists, exhibition curators, editors... It is with this desire that the Rencontres d'Arles associates the Fondation Découverte Prize Louis Roederer at all exhibition venues: galleries, arts centers, associative spaces, independent venues and institutions, which are often the first to support artists. This year again, the selected projects are considered as a single exhibition, designed, from selection to hanging, by a curator, Audrey Illouz.

 

The exhibition starts from a feeling of diffuse but largely palpable disquiet among the seven artists presented on the occasion of this fourth edition of the Discovery Prize. It evokes an acuity in the world, a physical and psychological state where the artist remains alert to address the troubles of time without giving in to frontality. Faced with the disasters that lurk or are already gnawing away, alternative scenarios keep the catastrophe at bay and draw out alternative paths.

 

The exhibition will be on view from July 1, 2024 until September 29, 2024.
