Occasional Goods
06.01.05-12.02.05
“Occasional Goods” concludes a two year painterly research, delving into the beauty of stupidity, the iridescence of power, the composition of desire, and the sticky glare of ethics.
The exhibition consists of paintings that originate in readymade image-bank images, which are shortly resurrected by the manual painting process. Bordering on sheer decorativeness, the paintings evoke ideal images and deja-vu's, which challenge the viewers' visual desires Ð located somewhere between fascist sleaze and enlightened sublimity, between ecstasy and total boredom.
Hillel Roman is a 30-year-old Israeli artist, who graduated from the Midrasha, Art Teachers’ training college. His works have been presented in several groups shows: Dvir Gallery (2002), Hamidrasha Gallery (2003), and Tel Aviv Museum of Art (2004).
